WordPress – Malware Issues And How To Avoid Them

WordPress is immensely successful, that much is for certain. Powering more than 70 million websites globally and renowned for being free, Wordpress can be considered one of the most successful and popular pieces of software in existence. However, one threat that looms over Wordpress users, casting a rather unfortunate shadow, is the key problem of malware, some pretty nasty codes that can prove rather menacing and malicious. Keeping some small tips in mind, it’s possible for one to combat any malware worries.

  • Basic Security Measures
There are many who overlook the more basic measures; it’s these lapses that result in malware issues. Upgrade often and keep Wordpress up-to-date. Make sure that the admin password is changed and keep backups of the website along with backups any other databases or anything else deemed relevant, in case a serious problem does occur. Make sure that a decent anti-malware and/or anti-virus program is installed, such as Malwarebytes.
  • Plug-ins
It’s common for people to forget about certain Wordpress plug-ins that quickly grow out-dated and unsafe. Therefore, if you’re a Wordpress user who wants to prevent malware, it’d be a smart idea for you to delete any old and unused plug-ins. Make sure they remain up-to-date; this ensures that the plug-ins have the least amount of security issues possible. Maybe it’d be good for a Wordpress user to install numerous plug-ins; this makes the website all the more secure. Make sure that the plug-in(s) used is/are popular and is/are not obscure.
  • Theme
Potential problems can occur as a result of old themes. It’s always wise to check over old themes and update if an update is possible. There are some themes that exist that are adapted and custom-made; if this is the case for you, get your theme reviewed by an able developer or some other skilled and savvy web design smart.
  • Help
Finally, if the worst does come to the worst, make sure that you know of the right people nearby who can help ASAP, such as web developers or specialists or anyone else with the right expertise. With the right help and the right treatment the problem should prove, well, no longer problematic.

So, the above precautions should be taken to avoid malware problems. Remember, if malware is discovered, don’t panic, think clearly, and take responsive action, although the problem is unlikely to occur to begin with if the above measures are taken.
