The Kindle Touch was released. The mother of all E-Readers was unleashed upon the market.

With a quick-reacting touch screen, a crystal-clear display and a modern layout which serves to make the already-gorgeous E-Reader even more attractive, the Kindle Touch offers smooth, quick and refined reading experience for the owner. One swipe of a finger and you’re immersed in the musings of an intelligent daily paper, or you’re enjoying a piece of fine literature. But I can do this with a good old-fashioned paper book, you may argue. Why should I dish out the hundred-odd quid for a piece of fancy kit that lets me do what I can do anyway? Let me enlighten the people who ask this question. Let me prove to you why the Kindle Touch is the mother of all E-Readers.

The sleek new E-Reader is capable of holding up to 3,000 books. Yes, you read that correctly. How much do you reckon 3,000 paper books would weigh? Do you think you’d be allowed to take that much on a flight to Spain or Majorca? With the Kindle Touch, weight isn’t a problem. Weighing 213 grams, it is now possible for you to have 3,000 books in your coat pocket. At any time, you can flip out the Kindle Touch and dip into the pool of knowledge that can be contained within 3,000 books. If that within itself doesn’t amaze you, I have no idea what will.

The new Kindle Touch has Wi-Fi on it for you to be able to download books. Considering that most decent pieces of technology nowadays have Wi-Fi on them, this isn’t really an achievement for the Kindle. However, it is possible to download a book within a minute. Find a book you want on the market, buy it, and, within a minute, worlds of entertainment and enjoyment are at your fingertips. You can repeat this process 3,000 times. Has it sunk in yet? The Kindle even has text-to-speech support for children, people with disabilities and generally lazy people, audiobook support, and MP3 support as well. That’s a pretty big triple blow.

Is the battery life a concern for you? Amazon has addressed this common concern, and they’ve addressed it absolutely head-on. Your Kindle Touch should last you three months. No, you haven’t read that incorrectly. Three months. 80-100 days of reading joy. All of this goes without mentioning the modern E-Ink technology. This technology serves as electronic paper of sorts; that means the words on your Kindle are like words on a paper page. It illuminates beautifully in sunlight. Amazon has also succeeded in developing something called X-Ray which is pure gold for students and learning enthusiasts. It allows the user to see certain extracts from a particular book which all share and mention the same figures, characters, and ideas. The possibilities and opportunities are absolutely endless.

In closing, the Kindle Touch can easily be described as the mother of all E-Readers. Unless Amazon or another company can succeed in blowing the mammoth E-Reader out of the water with something even better (which, knowing Amazon, isn’t out of the question), the Kindle Touch will continue to stand over average books and less superior E-Readers.
