The iAssassin – The Brand New HTC One X

The Apple iPhone 4S sat on its golden throne, above all other smartphones, for many months. Other mobiles despaired as they watched the iPhone soak up pools of attention with its crisp screen and its 8MP camera. But now, all of that changes with what I would aptly call the ‘iAssassin’; the HTC One X, the very phone which would pull the iPhone from its throne and claim the throne for itself.

What a competitor for Apple it is, too. With crystal-clear Beats audio, courtesy of Dr. Dre, the HTC One X has the cutting edge against the 4S in terms of sound quality. The slim, smooth, textured profile of the beautiful phone, as well as the powerful quad-core processor, is enough to knock it a few notches above the iPhone. The One X is still very sturdy, despite the slim build. One must also consider the resolution; the 720p resolution makes the screen dazzling. While the 4S has got an admittedly nice screen resolution with Retina Display technology, the One X gives Apple a rather surprising run for their money.

The customizable interface of the HTC One X is certainly enough within itself to pull the 4S down a peg or two. Apple have stuck with their guns fiercely, keeping to the same grid layout that they always have, while the One X gives plenty of room for originality with widgets and the ability to do things like checking the weather and keeping up with the social updates without having to open an app, saving valuable seconds. The almost-half-a-gig’s worth of additional RAM is helpful, along with the greater dimensions. The fact that it’s capable of using Flash objects, whereas the 4S can’t, probably helps. The ability to use micro-USB with the HTC One X gives it another distinct advantage.

Despite this, the iPhone 4S holds its ground in numerous respects. The iTunes App Store is arguably better than the Google Play HTC offers, with a greater variety of apps. But, as Google Play and HTC grow, it probably won’t be long before the One X catches up with the iPhone in this respect. The maximum brightness of the 4S is higher than that of the One X; the 490cd/m ² of the HTC doesn’t compare to the 581cd/m ² of the iPhone, but it still excels other phones and the depth of the images are still stunning.

In closing, while the iPhone is an astounding phone which blows many others out of the water completely, the HTC One X has completely robbed the iPhone of its throne and taken it with fantastic power, graphics, and originality. It’s certainly worthy of the title ‘iAssassin.’
